Lyptus is a premium plantation-grown hardwood from Brazil. A natural hybrid of Eucalyptus grandis and E. urophylla, Lyptus features many desirable characteristics such as exceptional machining properties, density, finish tolerance and overall strength. This makes it well-suited for diverse high-end applications like furniture, cabinets, flooring and architectural millwork. Lyptus offers wider flitch widths and fewer defects than many other species, making it more economical to convert into veneer and also made into plywood. Lyptus will appeal to cabinetmakers for its color, density and unique character. It has the look of cherry and with a stain it mimics mahogany. Lyptus costs more than oak but less than cherry. Building with Lyptus is a wise environmental choice. Lyptus trees are grown and managed using proprietary technology in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Eucalyptus is grown on very productive plantations, where stands of indigenous tress are interspersed to preserve natural habitat. Lyptus is extremely prolific, growing to 140 feet in 18 years - much faster than other premium hardwood grown in colder climates - ensuring reliable supplies throughout the foreseeable future. Weyerhaeuser first introduced Lyptus lumber to North America but quickly learned that their customers also needed Lyptus hardwood panels. Weyerhaeuser chose Timber Products Company as its exclusive Lyptus hardwood plywood partner and manufacturer. The two companies have worked closely together to perfect the grades, manage veneer inventories, and to generally assure that Weyerhaeuser customers consistently got a quality Lyptus panel, when they wanted it. |
