These half-day application seminars take place at Atlantic Plywood branches from 10:00am to 3:30pm (unless otherwise noted). Lunch is included. Please refer to the schedule below to find a location and date that best fits your needs. Due to limited space, preregistration is recommended. The cost for each of these seminars is $50 per person for your 1st attendee, and $25 for each additional attendee from your company.
This application seminar is presented by Mirka Abrasives. It is designed to give you a better understanding of the proper equipment and techniques used in the sanding, buffing, and polishing process. This hands-on seminar will help you master a flawless high gloss finish. This seminar will take place from 10am – 2pm.
This Introduction to Wood Finishing Seminar will introduce you to the fundamentals of wood finishing. Topics that will be covered are basic coatings technology and types of coatings, understanding wood, how solvents effect coatings, proper sanding techniques, and material prep prior to spraying. This seminar will also review proper equipment setup and spraying techniques. Two systems will be completed during this seminar; a stain with a sealer, and clear coat and a primer with a pigmented topcoat. This seminar is the perfect training for the new finisher or as a refresher course for someone getting back into finishing.

This Advanced Wood Finishing Seminar is designed for wood finishers that have the basic knowledge of how to finish. This seminar will improve your knowledge and application techniques used in wood finishing. A more advanced understanding of coatings including volume solids, dry film thickness, and square footage calculations will all be covered. Products used to create color in wood will include; wiping stains, spray stains, NGR dye stains, toners, and glazes and are all used as part of a single step or multi-step wood coloring system. Grain fill sealers and both 2K solvent and water borne polyurethanes will also be addressed. Learn to expand your knowledge of wood coatings to create high end finishes with the depth and contrast that your clients demand.
